Important VISA check card notice

You may have recently heard of a security breach within a system called Heartland Payment Systems, Inc. Your Altoona First VISA check card may have been compromised as a result of this intrusion. Altoona First is taking every precaution to make sure that such an intrusion will not result in any inconvenience to you.

Heartland Payment Systems, Inc. services nearly 257,000 different merchants as a Credit Card Processor. Your card may have been used at one of these merchants between the dates of May 2008 – November 2008, when the intrusion occurred.

Altoona First Savings Bank and VISA have many services in place to keep your card and your personal information secure. We are closely monitoring these accounts and will take any steps necessary if we feel that your card would in any way be compromised. Also, you will have no liability should your card be used in a fraudulent environment.

At this time Altoona First Savings Bank does not intend to cancel your present card and reissue a new one. Instead, we request that you review your account for any possible unauthorized transactions and immediately report any such occurrences to us at (814) 943-5411. As always, be on the lookout for signs of potential identity theft, especially over the next 12 – 24 months. If at any time you notice any discrepancies between your account statements and your own records, please notify us immediately.

If at this time you are uncomfortable leaving your card open and would like a new Altoona First VISA check card, Altoona First will supply you a new card and PIN at no charge.
